The On Campus Management Trainee Program

The On Campus Management Trainee Program is an initiative launched under the umbrella of, ''Shaping the Professionals of Tomorrow'. There is a certain skill set that one develops via corporate experience only and the program aims to hone just that skill set.

This year we have launched the program in the three metropolis cities of Pakistan namely Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad

The OCMT program aims to depart corporate learning's via a project based approach. The trainees work in close liaison with specialized teams on projects currently being run at Telenor Pakistan. At the completion of each project, the functional team along with the recruitment team evaluates the trainee team work and coaches them on their strength and weaknesses followed by independently selecting teams for the next round. Based on academic timelines, the program is extended over 5 months to ensure that student's academic commitments are not affected by this program.

The three projects under the domain of the OCMT Program aim to ensure that students learn about those aspects of the business world that are better learned via practical experience and exposure. Over the course of 5 months the OCMT's are expected to learn about:

New Product Development
Consumer Insights
Corporate Responsibility
Business Intelligence and other such area.

To add an interesting twist to the initiative, this year round the OCMT program is competition based. At every stage the program promises to impart important corporate learning to the student but at the same time, at different stages teams will be eliminated strictly based on their performances. Performances of the team will be pegged against the following system: for the first project teams will be evaluated on inter-university bases, for the second project, teams will be evaluated on inter-city bases and in the final round teams will be evaluated on a national base. In the end there will be one winning team whereas multiple teams from different universities and cities would have closely worked with Telenor Pakistan to gain a higher level of corporate exposure.

Competition Update

In the current cycle, phase 1 included intense engagement with the Djuice Brand Team. The trainees undertook the challenging task of finding new markets and avenues to explore in the telecommunication sector along with this they also learnt about the dynamics of creating Djuice advertisements. This phase is now complete and shortlisted students have moved to Round 2 which will give the trainees an opportunity to work with the Corporate Responsibility team on our flagship program Khuddar Pakistan. During the course of this 3 week project, the trainees are now engaged in developing national content to increase awareness on the issue of People with Disabilities.

The race is on and our trainees are now one step closer to the grand cash prize worth PKR 300,000 and one stellar performer closer to an orientation trip of a life time with Telenor Group (Norway) !
